Saturday | June 22 2 pm | Meeting and Program Joseph Hardy will talk about his new book “A Year Without a Summer” which is set in early Parsonsfield as settlers struggled with harsh conditions. and a volcano eruption half way around the world that blocked the sun as far away as Maine. |
Saturday | July 20 9am -1pm | Annual Yard and Bake Sale in our front yard.. Donations needed. Starting June 23 you can leave items for the sale on the porch and someone will be checking regularly to bring them inside and ready for the sale. Baked goods also needed, help needed. And…Always interesting things to buy at REALLY good prices! Come find your treasures! |
Saturday | July 27 2pm | Meeting at History House plus Author Jo Radner will talk about her latest book entitled “Wit and Wisdom.” |
Saturday | Aug. 3 9-3 | PAR SEM DAY on the grounds of the Parsonsfield Seminary . See the antique cars. Tour the campus. Look through the scrapbooks and yearbooks. Enjoy the live music, Chat with vendors & Come visit us at our booth. Buy a chance on our beautiful, locally-made quilt. |
Saturday | Aug. 17, 1-3 | Parsonsfield’s Old Town House will be open ! Come see the interior of this building that is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. , learn about its history, and learn about the founder of Parsonsfield, Thomas Parsons, who is buried in an elegant cemetery, just down the road. Directions will be provided. The iconic Parsonsfield Union Church across the road from the Meeting House will also be open for view. |
Sunday | Sept. 1, 1-3 | The Old Porter Meeting House will be open. Don’t miss this once-a-year opportunity to tour this very special building and learn about its history. It is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. |
Sunday | Sept. 15, 1-3 | Open House! Last showing of this year’s exhibit: “Changes in the Land.” Come take a good look. You can also tour the house and browse through some of our scrapbooks and albums. You could also try your hand at transcribing the early trade document we have on display. Best entry wins a year’s membership to PPHS. |
Saturday | September 28 at 2pm | Meeting and Program:. Keeping in Touch. Sylvia Wilson will talk about the collection of the Jose Fenderson Letters which were recently gifted to the Historical Soiciety. Also – if you are submitting your transcription of the early trade document on display, this is the deadline to submit it.The person who submits the best and most complete transcription will win a free membership in the Historical Society for next year. |
Saturday | October 26 2pm | Jean Stanley will talk about the Blazo Family. And we will be drawing the winner of this year’s quilt. |
Saturday | November 9 @ 1pm | Our Annual Thanksgiving Potluck “Dinner and commemoration of PPHS’s 78th year. To be held at the American Legion Hall in Porter. |
